Lilac, I hope this response i just wrote to Joette can help you here it is:

Hi Jo,

Are you familiar with your Adobe Photoshop program to the extent you know about layers?  It is very helpful.

Designs are usually created at a high resolution 300dpi (dots per inch).  This allows for intricate details. This creates a very large file size.

Find a peice of artwork you like on DigiScrapDepot.com from any designer.Click on the link the goes to their own blog.  Find the download link for the artwork you want usually it is a 4shared link.

Now after clicking that link, (stay with me here) you are going to be on the 4shared website.  You need to click on the DOWNLOAD link found at the top of the page.  After you click the download link it takes a couple of minutes depending on your connection for the download to start.  MEANWHILE, you can leave a note to the designer here on how thankful you are for their work they are sharing with you for free -that they may have created with their blood, sweat and tears.

You save the file onto your computer.  Now you have just downloaded a file from your favorite designer onto your computer!  It is in the form of a .zip file.  The designer has chosen to ZIP the file after she created it.  WHY!!!! you ask. That is because this lovely ZIP format allows us to shrink (compressed) the contents down so we can email it or work with the file.  Because these files opened up are super large okay.

You have the file. But its still Zipped!  You want to work with the artwork right?  Well we have to open the zip file to get at it.

Double click the .zip file. Now you will need to click on the extract button. Now it will ask you where you want to extract the file to onto your computer. (to extract means to open it up)

You open the file up.

You open your Adobe Photoshop program.

Find on your computer through Adobe the file you got from the designer you put on your computer.

While you have the design open in Adobe Photoshop, you can now alter it to your liking for example by adding your own personal text.

When you are satisified with your design, you save your Adobe file so that you can open it up again later if you want to.

Now resize your image to 12x12 or 8x8. Now print!  Its that easy.
