When I down load a template in freebies, I some times get a file that is a RAV. file. I've tried to open it with photoshop 6. It will not open..help

Are you sure it's a RAV file? OR do you mean a RAR file?

yeah, if its a RAR file, t hen you need the program to open those files.

OK so I am new to this as well can anyone tell me what a RAR file is and what program you use to open them I have seen many wonderful freebies but they are RAR and I have no idea how to open them. What is the difference between a RAR and ZIP?

they are simply two different applications to compress a file down enough in size so you can email it or use it without it crashing someone elses email client. Look here to read more:
