Just out of curiosity... I am new here, and know that copywrighted material is against TOS, but why do so many people use it? Not trying to call anyone out or anything, but if you can buy it in a store (disney, looney toons, etc) isn't it copywrighted? Was just hoping to get some feedback on other people's takes on it. Thanks.

Well, as long as it is made by yourself,.. its ok i guess
Using all the freebies,... thats what they are made for, and the designers want to be mentioned if you
upload/ publish a layout created with their products,.. this is advertisment on their shops

Hi. In my opinion, which is the bible here. . . I do not accept freebies with unlicensed material. That means, if you had a picture with the word starbucks like i have done in it, it is okay to say i am advertising a challenge where you win starbucks coffee... but i am not saying i am starbucks coffee or that i have any affiliation with starbucks.

Also, if you have a freebie that happens to have winnie the pooh or another character in the freebie... but is not the direct object of the freebie, i think it is acceptable if the character is NOT in the freebie. If you upload a picture of winnie the pooh who is the center of attention in the freebie.. i will not accept it. All of this is on a case by case basis. But i do not generally allow anything of the sort.

So... i dont know what other sites do but this is what i do =)

ok. I got it now. Does that mean if you design something of the sort , this site will not accept it but designers can put them if their private blogs?

Hmmm...I would not want to mess with Disney.

I am certain their "image" of mickey mouse (etc.) is copyrighted, whether you make it or not.  However, black and red are not copyrighted and so you could make mickey mouse striped paper in those colors.
